The Mariners & T-Mobile Park
With sweeping views of the Seattle skyline and the Puget Sound, T-Mobile Park is home to Seattle’s Major League Baseball team, the Mariners. The team joined the American League in 1977 and has included a long list of iconic players, including Ken Griffey, Jr, Randy Johnson, and Edgar Martinez.
University of Washington Huskies
The University of Washington, home to the Huskies, boasts a multi-championship award winning athletic program featuring baseball, basketball, crew, cross country, football, golf, gymnastics, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field, volleyball and sand volleyball. The campus, which is located just four miles from The Edgewater, includes Husky Stadium, Alaska Airlines Arena, Hec Edmundson Pavilion, Husky Ballpark, Husky Softball Stadium, the Nordstrom Tennis Center, Dempsey Indoor practice facility, and Conibear Shellhouse for rowing.
Scarves up! The Seattle Sounders FC features six homegrown players brought up through their development academy. The Seattle Sounders are a Major League Soccer team. Established in 2007, the Sounders home pitch is at CenturyLink Field in the SoDo District of Seattle. They qualified for the MLS Playoffs in each of their first seven seasons, winning the U.S. Open Cup three times in a row. The Sounders have the best average home attendance of any current MLS team, and arguably the best fans.
The Seahawks & CenturyLink Field
Located in the SoDo district of Seattle, CenturyLink Field is home to the Seattle Seahawks of the NFL and the Seattle Sounders of the MLS. The stadium has twice received the Guinness World Record for the loudest crowd roar at an outdoor stadium – once in 2013 and again in 2014, the same year the Seahawks beat the Denver Broncos to win the Super Bowl.
Seattle Reign FC
With two first place finishes within the first three years of play, the Seattle Reign FC, a National Women’s Soccer League, have rapidly become a celebrated Seattle sports staple. Don your platinum and royal blue and join fellow Seattle fans at Memorial Stadium, located just one mile from The Edgewater Hotel, for fun-filled and action-packed games.
The Seattle Storm are the local Women’s National Basketball Association team. The Storm plays in the Key Arena, located in the Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle. The team has made the WNBA Playoffs in eleven of sixteen seasons. The Storm has reached the WNBA Playoff finals only twice and won both times, in 2004 and 2010. President Obama, who invited the Storm to the White House after their 2010 win, stated that they are role models for young women.
With a history of hitting the ice since 1971, the Seattle Thunderbirds rock the ShoWare Center in Kent. The ShoWare Center, located 20 miles south of Seattle, offers 6,500 seats for Western Hockey League fans to choose from, and is also home to an array of other entertainment events. Catch the Thunderbirds in one of their 72 matches annual matches and get ready for an evening of excitement.
New to the city, Seattle celebrates the arrival of the National Hockey League’s 32nd franchise – the Seattle Kraken. Climate Pledge Arena will be the team’s home and is expected to be the first net zero carbon certified arena in the world. The arena is schedule to open late summer 2021 and play will begin in the 2021-22 NHL Season.
