The Edgewater was recently awarded the 2 Green Eco-Leaf Rating by completing a 70 point comprehensive eco-audit survey administered by iStayGreen.org - the online social network of environmentally friendly travel. The Edgewater became one of only six green eco-friendly hotels in Seattle, Washington, to receive the Green Eco-Leaf Rating. The property earned 2 Green Eco-Leafs, which translates as a "Good" rating.
The Edgewater is most commonly known for its spectacular views, marvelous rooms and exquisite cuisine. However, many people may not know that The Edgewater has countless environmentally friendly practices in place to support the cause and is considered a "green hotel." Hotel-wide initiatives have been enforced and adopted to ensure The Edgewater is not only being as environmentally responsible as possible, but that it is a healthy and welcoming atmosphere, where we keep our guests and planet at the forefront of our minds.
Some of the eco-friendly green hotel practices The Edgewater has implemented are:
- Use of compact fluorescent light bulbs
- Composting: recycling of food and grounds waste
- Hotel-wide recycling of cardboard, paper, glass and cans
- Linen/Towel reuse program; laundry soap that is phosphate free
- Available paperless check in/checkout and 100% recyclable guest key cards
- Water-saving fixtures including shower heads, low-flow commodes and faucet aerators
- Hotel collateral materials are made from minimum 30% post-consumer recycled content
- Six Seven restaurant uses local growers & food suppliers, reducing the eco-effects of transportation
